In Internet Explorer:
You will require a FTP URL, FTP username and password of the username to begin.
1) FTP URL:
Generally the URL is ftp.yourdomainname.com but if your domain is not pointing
to our server or if the nameservers are not propagated then you can use the
server IP address.
In Windows, you can obtain the server IP address by following the below
mentioned steps:
In Linux, you can obtain the IP address from the cPanel of your domain. There
are many themes of cPanel; for example in 'x' theme you can obtain the IP
address of your server from the details mentioned in the left panel in the home
page.
2) FTP Username:
You should have the FTP account (user) created in your control panels.
In Windows, an FTP account is created by default when the domain is created. It
will take the full domain name as the username but if the domain is too long
then it can be different. You can check the FTP user from your HELM control
panel.
In Linux, a master FTP account is created by default when the domain is created.
It is the same as the username of the domain or the username which is used while
login into cPanel. However, you can create more FTP accounts from cPanel.
3) FTP Password:
While creating the user, you have to provide the desired password. In the
existing FTP account, you can reset the password.
Please note that the in Linux, to reset the master account password, you have to
reset the main password of the user. On changing the password of the main user,
the password of the cPanel, master FTP account and master email account will
change.
